I’ve spent the last few weeks deep in my business—working on my big idea, refining my mission, and bringing it to life through a brand refresh.
Even though brand and design are my expertise, I find it hardest when I’m doing it for myself. I’m so close to it that I need a fresh perspective. Clarity has been the key (along with a big dollop of creativity), and I’m feeling good about how things are evolving.
It’s a reminder that, like people, brands are always a work in progress. They grow, shift, and need regular check-ins. And that’s a good thing.
See. (Smiles everywhere)
I encourage you to start looking for smiles—you’ll find them everywhere. Literally everywhere.
There’s even a name for it, Pareidolia—the phenomenon where we see faces or patterns in objects. I see them all the time (mostly because I’m looking for them). It sparks my creativity and never fails to bring me joy.
Try it.
Keep your eyes peeled.
Take a photo when you spot a one.
Let me know what you see.
Empower. (Tell the truth)
Next time you feel stuck or overwhelmed, ask yourself this one question.
“What is the truth in this?”
We overthink. We worry when we don’t need to. We add resistance that’s just not there. But when we strip things back, when we make reality our friend, we see more clearly, it helps us move forward.
I got this wisdom from the latest book I’ve read, ‘Peaks and Valleys’ a book about how to ride the highs and lows of life. I’ll be sharing my book review soon, I have more to learn from it and know writing will help me with a deeper understanding.
What are you overthinking? What’s the truth?
Love. (Don’t break the streak)
This is my year to thrive, and I’ve been experimenting with new healthy habits. I’ve realised that having simple rules makes them easier to follow.
Lately, I’ve been doing daily practices.
Yoga (only 10 minutes)
Writing (a mix of journalling and poetry writing)
Meditation (before I go to sleep)
(I’m currently on a 28-day streak!)
My mind feels clearer, and my energy levels are up. Next month, I’m adding.
Nightly reading (instead of TV)
Daily photography (out and about to see what I can see)
Haiku writing (to practice my creativity)
What would you like to try?
What habit do you want to start?
What’s one small rule that will help you stick with it?
Focus. (Do one thing well)
I bet your to do list is long (I know mine is). And overwhelming.
So here’s your invitation.
Pick one thing today. Do it well. That’s it.
It could be writing a page. Making one call. Going for a walk.
But whatever it is, give it your full attention—no half-measures, no distractions. Just focus.
Try this.
Write down the one thing that, if done today, will move you forward.
Do it. Feel good about it.
“Small wins. Stacked daily. That’s how momentum is made.”
– David Hieatt
